Only for a while, until my business grows and I get so many clients that I have to hire another PR Specialist. And another assistant and secratary. Is it okay to start a business of about 20 big named clients, with just me as the only person to deal with them, and one person to assist me, and another to answer the phones when I’m not there.

We are holding sales seminars. I will write the PR and publish it in the surrounding newspapers. Do we split the participant fees 50/50 if they come to us via the paper? Is that fair? Do I take the first one as a payment for the time and trouble of writing the PR and getting it out there? Do we take turns writing the PR? Is there any model for this? Thank you.

I was thinking about hiring a PR firm for some advertising for my business. However, there’s this local firm that has been very successful and have lots of clients. Although it is small (less than 5 employees counting the owner), they seem to be doing good. However, the owner does not have a PR/Marketing degree. I am just a little worried. Is it okay to practice PR and even own a firm without a degree?

My friend just opened a consulting business and she’s thinking about hiring interns because according to her she needs to save money before she can hire full time employees. Can any legal business hire intern just like that or should they be allowed to do so by the goverment or department of education? I am doing her PR and I am a bit puzzled. Please help!

I started a company that offers an online service for profit. After branding the business registering a domain and building a website, I found a web presence offering similar services offline with a trademarked name similar to mine. For example, my website has a name like Widgets Gadgets Web and a domain name like widgetsgadgetsweb.com. The trademarked name would be like WidgetsGadgets (one word), but the two word version is a very common term that is not trademarked. I registered the domain based on knowledge of the common term, with no knowledge of the pre-existing trademark. I have already invested quite a bit in branding pr materials before discovering this potential show stopper. Am I in violation of US trademark law?

My new company will be up and running shortly (3 to 5 weeks). We are leasing slightly smaller space than we need, cutting back on computer needs, saving saving saving where we can…in hopes that by spending that money on PR and marketing that we can start off with a bang.
Who has good recommendations for PR firms for small biz? What about marketing and advertising? I don’t want to end up with too big a firm because I think I will not be considered a serious account….and I worry that a small firm might not have the expertise I need. Any thoughts???
