Public Relations

i work at a small hospital and our gross revenue is projected at $30 million. What percentage should my PR/Marketing budget be? Our county has a population of about 30,000 and we serve portions of 3 other counties. i want to develop a good mix of radio/tv/newspaper/cable and phonebook advertising. Sponsorship is big in our area, too, with sports teams, churches, etc.

Ive tried very hard to earn my degree and I am not getting that break to prove myself in the PR/ media relations field, even though I know I have to start at an entry level position. I have retail management experience, people skills, and event planning skills, but just not having any luck, and I no longer want to do sales. Online job sites don’t seem to help as much as I would like it to, and I’m just getting tired of the run around. Advice anyone?

What do you think is important for a HS graduate to know about the advertising/pr field before they get into it besides the fact that its a tough area to break into. What more than passion/the ability to face challenges/work hard do they need to be successful in a feild like this? Where can one get the right kind of guidance? Will college be helpful as it makes it out to be? How far can that college knowledge take them? If you are in this feild, what is somethign you wish someone had told u?

I’m getting a B.S. in Communication Studies which is a very broad major. I’m trying to decide what career path I want to take, but I’m not sure about the difference between marketing, advertising and public relations. Could someone give me a brief break down of each?

‘Marketing Mix’

The site will be live by the end of January 09, but I want to work on building the SEO, PR etc now. So if I simply put the homepage up for the new site and not anything else, will this be enough to work on it by submitting articles, etc for SEO? Anybody that goes to the site can simply sign up for a free newsletter until the site is live. Good strategy? Thanks in advance!

I would like to do some freelance business writing for local companies or ad/pr agencies but don’t know how to begin marketing my services. I’d also like to break into freelance magazine or newspaper writing. Any help in how to break into these markets would be appreciated.

A company wants to increase the newspaper sales of a recently launched edition, which is not enjoying alot of readership on the ground. Adverstising would be too expensive for it at the moment, therefore they have opted to use PR or any other method to boost the newspaper’s sales. How can they reach their target market and convince them to read their paper; therefore increase the newspaper’s sales?
