my coach tells me to sprint as hard as i can for the first 300 meters and by tehn i should be dying but if i hold my form together i can get a decent time.
in the first 300 i run a 36 (pr) a full 400meters my pr is 52 flat so in that last 100 i lose 16 seconds. is ther strategy to bring my time near 50 flat or under?
some useful information, im 6′1 175 and im 4.7 in the 40.
ppl tell my i have really terrible burst speed but my breakaway is good.
I am 130 lbs, 5-11, 14 years, and will be a freshman next year. Since the season just finished, I would like to know from any of you experience highschool 400 runners a way to improve my time and possibly a workout plan for the summer. Strategies for running the 400 would also be appreciated. My PR is 59. Thanks in advance.
P.S.- Do you think that using a block for the 400 is appropiate for my compitition level?
I recently ordered some adizero PR’s online and i’m noticing that particularly on my right footed shoe that my feet are a little too big and it’s a little bit uncomfortable, i can run in them just fine, but i can tell i’m sort of squeezing my foot… they’re not too small a size, it’s that near my pinky toe there just doesn’t seem to be enough room so it’s kinda like my toe is pushing off of the sole.
i’ve heard that most ppl have foot slightly larger than the other so my main concern is wether or not this one particular area should stretch after the shoe breaks in, or if it is more likely that i’ll just rip right through the fabric?
any help is appreciated
thank you for your insightful views into my question mrs. brown……. NOT
my first is on thursday and Im proably gonna have to run the 1 mile and 2 mile.
I am a sophmore in high school and my PR for 2 mile last year was 11:29 and my mile PR was 5:17. This year I feel like I got alot faster and I wanna try to break 5 for mile and 11 for 2 mile.
Any tips for running them?
P.S. I am the fastest frosh-soph on my team
I am fastest frosh-soph on the team because all the good frosh-soph fromlast year moved up to varisty. I still got some tough competition though

I run cross country and I’ve probably done about fifteen 5Ks in my life so I’m not completely new to them, but I want to experiment with my pace. My PR is 18:11 Normally I run the first mile a little below my average pace, then try to hold that pace for the second mile (although usually my second mile is about 5 or 10 seconds slower). Then I speed up and use everything I have left for the rest of the race. I’m trying to run sub-18 but I need to try something different. What’s a good pacing strategy?
fantastic money
As the title states, i am curious if anyone uses them well for hard workouts as well as the casual runner. Please post the original time you wanted to improve and the result of the training you did. Also if you have any additional side training or ideas for something creative that would help improve endurance and strength please make mention of them.
For reference…I run Track and Cross-country. I am an average track athlete with my best and favorite event being the mile. My PR is a 4:57 mile, in which i average 6th in my area. I am more focused on improving my cross-country time, which is a 5k in roughly 19:30 for a hard course and around 18:30s for a road race.
I train with my teammates according to my 2 coaches, occasionally run miles at home, and sometimes jog.
This summer i will be going all out; lifting weights, swimming, biking, hiking, training, deciding on splits, and pack running with the team leaders…do you think the training i currently have (w/o online) is overdone?
I only ask the last part as an opinion poll of what experianced runners think…i don’t want to be too tired to complete any part of my training, and i don’t want to get burned out on training/ running either. I realize that no one can determine absolutely how much training it takes to burn out, but i figured some runners might have good warnings and advice.
oh, and if you are wondering…yes, i have shin splints = ] but they heal rather quickly.
Thnx for reading all this and your time/advice. See you on the backroads!

I am running in regionals on monday for the 1600 and the 3200. I need help for some race strategies… I have very good endurance and good speed as well, but my times are never as fast as I want them to be. My goals for regionals would be under 10:40 for the 3200 and under 5:10 for the mile… what do I do to assure that I achieve these goals? my pr is 5:20 for the 1600 and 10:56 for the 3200, but I always go out with the front of the pack and end up dying the first few laps because they are around a 35 second per 200 pace (of course even the front runners slow down as well). I know I can do way better than those two times.
Gee, thanks for the obvious…
