I have a bad cold and when I went raiding my medicine cabinet I found that all of my cold/allergy/sinus medication labels instruct you to consult a doctor before use if you have a thyroid disorder. I of course do have a thyroid disorder (hashimoto’s thyroiditis) and was wondering how it may be affected by these medications. I will consult my doctor as far as what I can do to alleviate my symptoms, but I am curious. My thyroid disorder was diagnosed over a year ago, but I am currently not on medication for it (for whatever reason my TSH levels are normal which baffles me because of the severe symptoms that persist and have gotten worse since the diagnosis). Last night I took a dose of nyquil before realizing the label instructions and within minutes began to have severe chest pains (I thought it was heartburn) and my blood pressure and pulse rate rose dramatically 154/96 PR 105) Could that have been related to the medication?
