Public Relations

My husband started a small publicity firm this year. I was wondering if anyone can give me ideas as to how to contact firms like Loreal, Coca Cola, Walmart, Baskin Robins, and others. I have made contact with some of their local publicity agents but they always just say they will present my material to their customer. I am almost sure they are not doing it. I want to present these companies my media without having to go through their agent. I see ads in local magazines and wonder how they get them to place their ads. I haven’t had any success yet. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I have a client who needs to communicate a new product with about 20 different media organizations in one state over a two-month period, and also needs to reach out to local community organizations about it during that period. I will do all the outreach. How much do you think I should charge?

I can’t decide which concentration to choose. If I went with Advertising, I’d stay away from the art and focus on the writing aspect. I’m not completely sure what Public Relations involves when it comes to turning it into an actual occupation. Can someone tell me major differences and the various career opportunites of both? I am a mass communications major, and a graduating senior this year at my local university. And I would I would like to know what are some of the better jobs in sither broadcasting, media writing, public relations, or media marketing. And where are some of the best cities for these markets.

I am thinking about going into one of these fields. I’ll probably major in one of them, and minor in the other. Please give any insight you know about these majors.
