I want to be a journalist and minor in public relations… I know that it is a very risky thing to do, especially for journalism but I am very determined. Hopefully I can get some pointers on journalism and just advice about how journalism and public relations can go hand in hand from someone with the same educational background or similiar.

Okay professionals, I need to pick your brains . . . I just got thrown into this department and I’m trying to figure things out. How do I get clips & soundbites of any of our executives who appear on CNBC or Bloomberg, etc? I know I can talk to CNBC directly, but I hear there are agencies that provide this service — they can get you media feed from any chanel. Please advise.

I am with a regional newspaper and I will be in London around the time of the premier. My paper has asked me to cover the event and I haven’t been able to find the appropriate press relations officer to get in contact with.
Any help?

This is a course at Western. Does anyone go to this school? I visited and it was really nice.
The media and communication courses sound interesting to me, but I would really like to learn more about them. Has anyone here specialized in the media field or public relations field for university. I’d love to know what type of things you learn/do.

I have a BA in Literature (been out of college 3 yrs now) and have roughly one year of experience as a staff writer at a daily newspaper.
I love my job, but journalism doesn’t pay the bills and I have seen some great opportunities in the newspaper lately.
I know that I have what it takes (I could write better press releases than the one’s I have been seeing).
Any tips on how to get my foot in the door (not looking for marketing/advertising…thinking more like a small organization, govt, museum, etc).

I’m a junior in college and a communications major with an emphasis in public relations. I’m an international business minor and have had 3 semesters of statistics. I’m interested in pursuing a career in media planning/buying once I graduate. Do you have any suggestions for what else I could do to prepare myself for a career in media planning/buying? What kind of a business should I look for an internship if I want to get into this someday?
