I’ve been doing PR and events management for more than 5 years in the Philippines, handling big-name companies like IBM, SAP, Lenovo, Intel, and HP. I want to work in New Zealand, but my educational background is not related to my professional experience. Would taking a certificate course in PR and events management at Cengage Education (Australia-New Zealand educational institution for long distance courses) boost my resume and help me get a good job in NZ?
Would a certificate in PR & Events management help me get a job in New Zealand?

I would say employers would be more interested in your experience & not be bothered about the lack of qualification. I rose to management level in the corporate world here in NZ just based on experience. I have only a high school education but I get paid the same as someone with a degree.
On the downside our Government really only want foreigners to work in the areas we have job shortages in, which is nursing, doctors, IT professionals, lawyers & chartered accountants.
You would need to contact immigration to find out if you could work here:

New Zealand companies are big on local experience - and I’d anticipate the PR work would be even bigger on that.
As the above answer indicates, we have no shortage of PR people, so certificate or not you’re going to have a very hard time getting a position. Most companies only look globally if they can’t find anyone locally, the extra work is just not worth it.
