If I have a liberal arts degree will I be able to get a job in public relations?

Or are my only options to have a degree in journalism, communications, marketing or sociology? I live in the Detroit area and community colleges that offer these above fields of study seem to be very few and far between. I’ve found one nearby however, that offers a liberal arts degree. Any advice from those in the PR field would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, you probably will. Liberal arts degree holders can do anything they want and most even change careers often.

If you have a liberal arts degree, especially the relevant fields like journalism, communications, advertising and marketing you have a great chance of getting a job in public relations. Unlike other professions where there are extremely strict conditions before one can practice like legal and accounting profession, there are not such strigent measure in most countries where they even have professional Public Relations (PR) bodies. But once you get the job into PR, it is advisable to further equip yourself with adequate training in PR and join its professional bodies around you for regular update.
