Pakistan is juggling so many balls in the air right now that any slip in public perception could wreck the nations goals. The population is religious, the government is secular trying to interact with other nations, Every neighboring nation is pressing for their own interests, and the country is basically going in 6 directions at once. A little window dressing couldn’t hurt. That and if some group blows a nuclear device as an act of jihad, Pakistan deserves the blame for letting that cat out of the bag.
