I need specifics… what kind of schooling do I need to get a good job and for how long do I need to be in school if at all? What kinds of things can I do to get my foot in the door? Are there extracurricular activities that could help me get that extra boost? Where do I start? Can you recommend any websites to me that could help me or that you know are great pr places to work for?
What do I need to do to get into public relations?

be more specific. Do you mean like having “relations” in public? If so, talk to your partner anbout his take on it and choose a somewhat safe area to have said “relations”. Good luck and hope this helps. Email me if you need more help with this. It can be a bit tricky the first time.

I’m in public relations by chance…I’m a web communications specialist. I have a bachelor’s in Psychology which obviously didn’t apply to the job qualifications other than having a college degree of some sort. I have a certificate in web site development and years of experience which did apply. I work for a small city in a department of three. My coworker is a public relations specialist which is probably more of what you are looking for — she knows the Adobe creative suite and is very creative with marketing ideas. She has a college degree in art history I believe, but knew Quark xpress and the Adobe suite. She is also a good writer.
I suggest searching on Monster jobs for something you would want some day, look at the qualifications and take whatever classes you need to meet them. I suggest classes on Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.
