Some times a year.My husband is from the US we got married in Canada.Then went to immigrations with marriage license and they give him PR and workers permit on the spot but he must report to them every six month They call it inlaunders We been married 5 years no problem with them he just gets a letter every 6 months to report in

Permanent Residency is not given “on the spot”.
Once you marry, you can live in Canada on a visitor visa while processing your PR applications. Once you get a certain ways through the process, you should be able to get a temp work permit with no problem.
In general, a PR processed while you are living in Canada will take 9-12 months. It takes 12-18 months if being processed from outside the country. All times are estimates.
