okay…so my recent ex had this discussion with me. he did not think it was worth it to get a public relations degree. he insulted the fact i was one. he is a secondary ed-history major. which one would rather be in? pr or history?

I have my B.A. and M.A. in Public Relations. I worked as Foster and Adoption Recruiter for 3 years which was an awesome job and I got a decent salary. Now I work in Public Relations for a major hospital and I get paid $63,000.00 a year. Not bad for now, but the possibilities are endless. I heard all of the same negativity when I chose my major, but now all of my friends envy my job positions. I don’t have the average job and I am always involved in something social and charitable. I’m always networking. I was approached recently for a job at a local newspaper making about $75,000.00 a year. The only thing is that I love my current job and I couldn’t beat the flexibility I have with a stick. As an example, I’m at work but yet I’m on here answering your question. LOL! My best advice is to network and apply for jobs, even if you don’t necessarily think you qualify. If I didn’t take chances, I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in today. You have chosen a great field of work.
