Hi,
I am trying to figure out what career I want to pursue. Public relations sound like a great job for me. If you or someone you know is in this field, could you give me some advice? Pros and Cons? What do I need to succeed in PR?
Thanks so much!

First, public relations is not customer service, sales, lying nor answering phones. Public relations is a management function that focuses on two-way communication and fostering of mutually beneficial relationships between an organization and its publics. The best PR practitioners are strategic communicators. It’s not about parties, press releases and golf tournaments, although those are common PR tactics. (Good PR pros know the difference between a goal and objective; a strategy and a tactic.)
Public relations is a broad term for a set of professional/business communication and relationship specialties.
The top PR professionals receive accreditation in public relations (APR) status. It is a mark of distinction for public relations professionals who demonstrate their commitment to the profession and to its ethical practice, and who are selected based on broad knowledge, strategic perspective, and sound professional judgment.
