Whats the cheapest and most flexible way to travel from san juan, pr to st thomas?

me and my fiance are planning on spending our honeymoon in puerto rico and would like to travel to the us virgin islands (preferably st thomas) during the month of august. I’m looking for a local option that would not be advertised on the internet, we’ve found the $200 flights and the ferry that only runs on saturdays. Are there local taxis that can take you or are we just out of luck? thanks!

There is a ferry that is $100 R/T. It only goes 2 times per month though. Click below for info:

Believe it or not, there are no dirt cheap and easy options, other than what you’ve already found. You’d think there would be ’cause it’s not that far - but nothing I ever found.

I will suggest Vieques or Culebra - still PR, but a cheap and easy ferry ride, beaches generally similar (arguably better) than the US Virgins, bioluminescent bay is cool, some neat stuff to do. Flamenco Beach on Culebra is world-class.
