I am a public relations major and I want to be commissioned as a public affairs officer in the air force, is there anything I can do to increase my chances? I am currently in ROTC.

Those slots are very few and far between so you would need to have published work in order to compete with the ones who also want them. You need to be an excellent communicator both in writing and verbally. You should be able to answer ad lib with no problem so a debate team might be helpful. Since you are going to be on TV at times, you also need to have a good appearance and you need a good speaking voice. Very clear.
You don’t get commissioned into a job. You receive your commission then you have to request the job. You should have asked your ROTC instructors. They know the answers to questions like that. If they don’t then they will tell ytou where to find it.
