I have a second interview with a corporate development and planning department at a local clinic. I graduated from a univ with a mass comm degree in may of 08 but have not worked in my field yet. they would like me to have a PR portfolio monday for my interview. any tips on what to put in it or how it should look? please help!!

1. I like to go Skiing(because it is the name of like a sports field?).

2. I like to learn about Press Release( a sub-field name under Public Relations field?).

3. I like to learn about Marketing( a career field?).

I am doing a research paper for my Communications class and I was just interested in some cases or issues with major companies that I may not be thinking of in which they had to use PR to “fix themselves”.

For example: Firestone tires blowing up, McDonalds being outed by the documentary “Super Size Me.”

I was thinking about hiring a PR firm for some advertising for my business. However, there’s this local firm that has been very successful and have lots of clients. Although it is small (less than 5 employees counting the owner), they seem to be doing good. However, the owner does not have a PR/Marketing degree. I am just a little worried. Is it okay to practice PR and even own a firm without a degree?

When I ask people at work, school and even have political discussions with people in general no one has ever heard of the Bohemian Grove, the Bilderbergs, Council on Foreign Relations or the Trilateral Commission. I have heard people say you are some kind of “conspiracy theorist” if you even want to discuss these groups and their influence on American politics and policy. Since their membership lists contain Presidents(from both parties), political leaders, media figures and heads of multi-billion dollar corporations shouldnt there be some type of dialoge in the press about this so at least the average person knows enough to formulate their own opinion. I would like to hear from people on all sides of the political spectrum. Why this lack of open discussion in the media, in school, in general? If there is no conspiracy or any hidden power manipulation why the strict policy of silence this is America we should NOT be ruled by secret
