I am a Mass Comm major at TX State and I am getting to the point where I have to pick a field. I am sooo stuck! Print is a dying art I know. But it is something I really do enjoy. My parents think I should be a reporter bc I am young and pretty (blah they have to say that) and my friends think I should do PR because I am the one person that can get things done.
I don’t know what to choose. I know you don’t know me but if you had to choose a fiend of journalism for you what would you pick?
Oh and my minor is photography. That is one thing I do know for sure.
Any ideas or suggestions? Again I know you don’t know me and I don’t know you but if you could just give me you opinion I would be very great full. What would you pick if you had to?
Gah I meant field not fiend. Sorry for the typo.

You’re parents and your friends are no doubt wonderful people, but they will not be living your life. I can tell you this: true happiness in the workplace will only come by doing what you love. Not…”I kinda like it”….not….”I’m OK with it”……but LOVE it. I gave up a 70k a year route sales position to become a teacher for 40k….and I wouldn’t change a thing. Finally I figured out what made me happy. Take my advice and follow your heart.
And as for the notion that print is dead……that might be true for ink and paper, but the art of composition will never die.
