how do i find a job after college?

I graduate college in 2 months. That said, I have no clue how to find a job. I would love to start working as soon as possible after I graduate. My major is in public relations/advertising.

my college had job placement. Check out yours!

Start getting your resume out now! I graduated last May and I had tons of friends that found themselves back in their parents house, unemployed, and still in college mode for months after graduation. Trust me you don’t want this to happen to you, the whole reason you went to college was to get a good job. Get your resume on Monster and Career Builder you will be contacted fairly quickly. Start going on interviews as soon as you can and just let them know that you will be graduating in the upcoming months, they will understand. More importantly, don’t set unrealistic goals. Many employers will not start someone fresh out of college at a very high pay rate, but you will have to sacrifice until you get the experience you need to make the money you want. Good luck and I hope you get a great job!

You school should have some type of program that helps you find a job in your field upon Graduation.
Try talking to a counselor and see if they can help you.
But then you can also give those job websites a shot like Monster.com, yahoo jobs, etc…

Well your first stop can be at your University. See if they have any job posting at your school. Another option is to attend job fairs that are in your city.

Your school should have had some sort of job fair for the students who are soon to graduate.

If all else fail, get your local newspaper and look in the classifieds section….

Do you have any experience in that field?

If you do not have experience in that field, no internships or anything like that, then you should look into entry level jobs in the PR/Advertising.

I had the hardest time finding a job, either I did not qualify because of lack of experience, or I overqualified with the degree.

    Good luck!

Your college almost certainly has services to help you find a job. For example, at my college, we signed up for interviews with real companies. Hiring managers actually visited our campus and interviewed tons of people. The requirement was that we had to be graduating within a couple months, we needed a certain GPA, and of course we had to have a resume on file with the college employment services office.

Also, you need to work hard on your first resume. It sounds like you don’t have one. The first resume will take many hours, if not days to complete. It’s not a lot of writing, but it’s a lot of thinking, and re-doing, and rearrainging. After you get your first resume done, future updates will be MUCH easier. Read two good books about finding jobs and interviewing and writing resumes.
