Here is her problem. First she was worth millions if not billions. She took insider information and sold her stock so she wouldn’t suffer a loss. She then lied about it. The only thing a PR person could have done would be tell her not to lie and suffer the consequences.
People don’t like it when Rich people lie and cheat to get richer.
She did not have bad public relations strategists. She had (extremely) bad judgement. Once she got caught trading on insider information, she should have fessed up, rather than lying about it.
She should have said ‘this was stupid of me, I should have known better. It won’t happen again’. She would have gotten a 250k fine a slap on the wrist. Martha Stewart was the person that turned this into a federal case.
